Enter feet and inches
Use a space between whole inches and a fraction: 5′ 7 1/2″. Include units when mixing feet, inches and metric. Add matching dimensions; multiply lengths to calculate area.
Try a Field Guide example
Open the Field Guide and tap an example. TradeCalc opens its calculator with the sample values filled in. Edit a measurement to try your own job.
Undo and redo
In Calculate, Undo steps back through your edits and Redo restores them. Clear can be undone too. If you start typing after Undo, the previous redo steps are replaced by your new edit.
Check off layout measurements
Open Marking view from a calculation. Each card gives a measurement at a numbered position. Tap anywhere on a card after you mark that position on your material; tap again to uncheck it. The counter shows your progress. Checkmarks reset when you leave the view.
Keep the screen awake
The sun button in Marking view keeps the screen on for ten minutes. “Screen stays on” confirms it is enabled. Tap the sun again to stop. It also stops when you leave the app and does not change screen brightness.
Attach and mark up a photo
- Save a layout, or open one in Workshop.
- In Photos, add an image and tap its thumbnail.
- Choose Arrow and drag, or choose Label and tap. Use a calculated value or type a label.
- Tap Done to keep your changes. Switch to View to inspect or zoom.
Back up your workshop
In Settings, choose Prepare backup, then Export complete workshop. Save the file somewhere you can find again. Import backup merges saved work. Complete backups include attached files up to a combined 64 MB.
Share a PDF
Open a saved calculation and choose Create PDF. Use Include photos in PDF to control photo pages. Then choose Share PDF.
If a result looks wrong
Check the input units, measurement references, percentage mode and rounding setting. Keep the exact inputs and expected result with any report. Remove private job details before sharing a screenshot.
Device requirements
iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. Core calculations and saved work operate offline. Camera capture requires a device with a camera and your permission.
